Gun Tests Magazine Ammunition Testing Protocol

GunReports.com publishes the detailed ammo-testing protocol from Gun Tests magazine, the most commonly requested addition to Gun Tests coverage. Gun Tests' focus is on performance before the bullet hits the target. 'We realize that results from our test gun can’t be extrapolated to every possible gun readers might own, we wanted to test ammunition in a fashion most consumers would be able to duplicate, and in fact, should conduct on their own. But our framework can potentially save you money and time by narrowing the list of candidates you might try in your own gun, and you can also follow our system to see if a given round performs for you like it did for us.

Gun Owners of America makes one final push against ObamaCare

(GunReports.com) — From Gun Owners of America (GOA), a non-profit lobbying organization formed in 1975 to preserve and defend the Second Amendment rights of gun owners: Write your representative one final time. Tell him to oppose the Senate-passed ObamaCare bill ... Remind him that, once Obama and Senate Democrats have gotten what they want, there is no incentive to ignore the Senate rules... Beretta Unveils A400

Beretta Unveils A400 Xplor Unico Semiautomatic Shotgun

November 11, 2009

ACCOKEEK, Md.—Beretta claims its just-released A400 Xplor Unico semiautomatic shotgun has the weight of a 3” semiautomatic but it fires 3½” shells.

According to Beretta, the Xplor underwent 3 years of development, 8,000 hours of engineering, 2,000 hours of testing and more than 100,000 rounds fired through prototypes and production models.

Beretta claims the Unico technology allows the A400 to shoot every type of 12 gauge shell from 24g to 64g and 2¾” – 3½” shells.

The new gun also employs the Kick-off3 recoil reduction system, which includes a third hydraulic damper added inside the stock bolt.

Beretta calls its gas operating system Blink. In Blink, a new piston elastic band cleans the internal part of the cylinder and prevents gas from exiting the valve, while the new seal system allows half the gas inside compared to older gas operated models.

The A400 uses Steelium barrels, which Beretta claims meet tougher specifications and forging processes than other barrels.

Also, the gun comes with a Green Receiver anodization process for the aluminum receiver.
