ATF retaliates against
'Fast and Furious' Whistleblowers

(GunReports.com) -- From a lengthy piece on FoxNews.com worth reading to the end: "Six months ago, several agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives stood before Congress to testify about the details of a U.S. government program that armed Mexico's largest drug cartel with thousands of assault rifles.
"The administration denied it at the time and questioned the agents' integrity. The men were nervous and scared. They said they feared for their careers, their reputation and their families."
"Any attempt to retaliate against them for their testimony today would be unfair, unwise and unlawful," Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, warned the Department of Justice.
Since then, the whistleblowers have been punished, and the miscreants have been insulated.

So one has to wonder, if punishing a whistleblower is illegal, who is filing charges against the management who made those decisions, and WHEN will they get around to doing it? Or is the investigation also 'all about the news bites'? When in doubt, kill the messenger and hide, obfuscate and lie about the message. Let me understand this. A whistleblower exposing wrongdoing, ineptitude, and illegal acts is punished while the persons performing those acts are transferred, promoted, and praised? Are Holder and his gang on drugs, or does he think we are? Holder needs to resign now. If he won't he needs to be impeached, tried and convicted. As was stated in a related discussion thread, this administration is the most secretive, paranoid administration in our nation's history. While it is abhorrent that we are seeing the whistleblowers being punished while the perpetrators of wrong-doing are being rewarded, or at least unscathed, why should we be surprised? Obama and his minions are frantically trying to hold on to power in any way possible. They have never stopped campaigning since the election of November 2008, and they are going to pull out all stops to assure the continued survival of their interests. Can anyone say cover up big time. Transparent as a mud fence. This administration has much to cover up. F&F is just one of the crimes perpetrated by Obama and his minions that is being stonewalled. I would like to believe that they will all be held accountable, but I am not holding my breath. Today's political/governmental arena is a lot different from when we saw previous administrations fall because of their attempts to cover up wrong-doing. The thing that boggles the mind is that if these miscreants would just own up to the truth of their misadventures, they'd take their hits for it, and we could move on. But in today's world it seems that our elected officials and their appointees have lost their moral compasses, and they are quite willing to commit even more crimes in order to cover up the crimes that they originally committed. "is just one of the crimes"! Ain't it the truth! Did you guys notice the news last week - which seems to have disappeared already - about the DEA money laundering operations conducted for the cartels? Funny thing - I just searched for a link to post here and didn't see any such news in the results.... Yeah, it's getting more and more scary that we continue to see government agencies violating the very laws that they are sworn to enforce. What with BATFE in the gun running business and DEA into money laundering, it makes one wonder which government agency is handling contract murders with hit squads. Oh, that's a piece of cake. It's the FBI. (Ruby Ridge, Waco, et al) They even have snipers whose job it is to kill mothers carrying newborns. Yup, they do dogs too. Is there something wrong with this web site? I haven't been able to log in for 4 days now. Are you kidding? We're seeing your posts, so apparently you're logged in.... Shit. I hate computers. I prefer this AOL site but an somewhat annoyed with AOL because HUFFPOST blocked me from commenting on their "news" articles. I guess I shouldn't care since they are written at about 9th grade level. So, besides this Fast and Furious crapola, what does everyone think about this new dealy with the turning over "terror"suspects to the military for indefinite detention and no legal representation. AND, the guidelines for being a suspected terrorist are the same guidelines that ATF tried to get gun shops to report to them on customers, i. e. missing fingers, stockpiling food, waterproof ammo, lots of guns, etc. I am really alarmed but it is hardly news. Well, the new deal is certainly NOT accidental. I think we can say that as surely as we say that tomorrow follows today. Funny that the Army Field Manual now coincidentally includes interrogation methods that are torture except in definition. Also that the Army is now recruiting most heavily for the 31-E MO, which is Military Police / Incarcerations and Resettlement. But hey, what do I know. I "can't handle the truth" as Nicholson's character in the movie said. If any of you care, you can find a list of FEMA's 'resettlement' camps online. It lists each one, and where they are, by state. Some are in the basements of federal buildings - which makes me think it's not really about housing pandemic flu victims - unless they've installed a completely separate HVAC ventilation system to protect the employees upstairs. A secured and guarded 'camp' in the basement of a building sounds more like a dungeon to me. That's the kind of places that terror suspects got 'reditioned' to. So some of us will never see daylight again when this starts, no matter how long we live. Just another reason to stay locked and loaded. Well, Brenson, while the old soldier in me doesn't give a damn what happens to terrorists, the American adherent of the Constitution part of me seeks some sort of middle ground. I do not believe terrorists deserve the complete run of our legal system, because in my view they are enemy combatants, and as such they are subject to the rules of treatment afforded prisoners of war. Because they may also be viewed as illegal enemy combatants, this is where the water gets sort of murky. Be that as it may, I still don't see them as worthy of the full run of our legal system. More capable heads than mine have wrestled with the disposition of such places as Guantanamo, and Gitmo still is open for business. I suppose the weasel way out of this is to take each case on its' own merits or demerits, as the case might be, but I am firmly opposed to our civilian courts getting anywhere into the mix. Perhaps I misunderstood. I thought Brenson was referring to the current attempt to apply military rendition to US Citizens. As I understand it, this is an extension of the Patriot Act section 106, into a new law by itself, which states that upon presidential designation (apparently meaning 'say-so' since any proof of any kind is specifically exempted from being required) a citizen can be picked up (NOW by the military, instead of unspecified under the Patriot Act) and held incognito in a secret location with no recourse to counsel, and the new law includes interrogated without any limit in time and under currently defined 'harsh' practices. That amounts to military detention and torture of US Citizens based on NO evidence. Piss off Obama based on your posts here and you could be one of the 'desaparacitos'. And oh just BTW, Section 106 also gives the POTUS the power to confiscate all your property, sell it off, and dispose of the proceeds as he sees fit. But maybe I'm wrong. Perhaps that wasn't what Brenson was referring to. Brenson? Brenson here (actually Cecil) and yes David b, that was the part of this new adventure to which I was referring. I too, like the Colonel, don't give a shit about what happens to a real, live, terrorist, but this has crept into the realm of picking on U. S. Citizens that "may be deemed to harbor terrorist leanings" by having too many guns, food stockpiled, waterproof ammo, and whatever those people in Washington can add to the list. This is a potential threat to Americans who oppose the ideas or policies of government, I fear. i have tried to re register here in my old place so I can be know as Cecil. Let's see if it works. TIM COLE - Hey, I just lost a reply to Cecil due to "Excessive data in comment field" error. I didn't think it was that long either. Would you PLEASE let us know how many characters your fields are set to? There are blogs all over the place that have a little message below the comment field letting a commenter know how many characters are left - and I'm sure you can get that 'tool' or code for free somewhere. C'mon man, upgrade a little! Check out the video at this link (http://jpfo.org/kirby/kirby-greek-gifts.htm ). You'll notice 'Police' insignia on their uniforms, and then at about 2 minutes in, that these are NOT guys deployed overseas - these are local LEs from not too far from me. Now, these guys are NOT just going after local terrorists or drug gangs like this - this is quickly becoming a standard approach to even picking up a guy for questioning once the background check shows he has so much as a derringer. In Milwaukee last year they sent an entire ATF SWAT team after a guy to question him about his protest organization's financing because he had one pistol- and they busted in his door at about 3 a.m. to do it. (Left behind the operations sheet with names too!) Should we worry? Hell, nobody yet has been able to give me one valid reason to NOT worry. Well, guys, as the line from an old song says: "The times, they are a-changing"! I have to agree that there are some scary things going on with our totalitarian leaning government. Only this morning I read an article in the newspaper saying that Obama is not content with government as it is, and that he really thinks that we have too much freedom. This came from his recent speech in Iowa that was given in the same town that Teddy Roosevelt had given a similar speech back in 1910. I guess I'm going to have to look up that speech and read it. What I heard on the news here was different. But if he said that, one has to wonder what he's thinking... like make sure the nation goes GOP in all 50 states next year? David, this crap about turning police into military and military into police started way back in the 70s when I was a cop. SWAT was the foot in the door. I had a Lt. in Vice that was also a Lt. Col. in the Army Reserve and he got wood when he started talking about using APCs, choppers, machine guns and the like to take down bad guys. And it just got worse from there. Lots of money was made selling assault stuff to police departments and lots of cops love this Rambo stuff. I knew it was going to manifest itself into something that none of us want but no one listened to me. Now, there is just a very fine line between the two. And, the police now have sniper rifles just like the G.I.s have. Kind of scary. Scares the hell out of me Cecil. Especially when they still make 'wrong house' mistakes, but the tactics are knock, bust the door, and shoot anybody who resists. Seems to me that the Federalies want to have an auxilliary army at hand, and who better to serve that role than the local police. That's why they have been pumping Federal money into local PDs for years. Then D.C. controls them. No free lunch. Agreed Cecil. I think there may be two purposes in that, possibly more. Let me try to make some sense of my swirling thoughts.... One, people get 'accustomed' to the idea of paramilitaries doing things like drug busts, so it's less upsetting when the locals look like Russian Spetnaz pros, and we will be more likely to remain docile. Two, because we're accustomed to it, we won't think it's so bad when it IS the Federales - we'll 'trust' them too, because so far it's only been a tactic used against known or alleged criminals. People won't worry too much until they realize that half their families are now alleged criminals. Three - if there is resistance, it'll likely be weaker against your hometown boys because citizens may be more reluctant to fight their neighbors, and since the gear is nearly identical, nobody will know when the Federales move in and take over. Four, at that point, even if the LEAs decide to 'quit playing' against citizens, they'll just be picked up by the military along with the rest of us. And 'America' becomes 'History' - a footnote in the NWO. Good points. Like some guy once said, "give me an army of 10,000 men and 100 years and I will convince people that black is white and white is black".
