CCRKBA: Weekend Shootings in NY City Prove Bloomberg's Gun Control Failure
September 6, 2011Printer Friendly | Email |
(GunReports.com) -- At least 46 people were shot in New York City over the Labor Day weekend, prompting the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms to ask Mayor Michael Bloomberg how this could happen in a city with some of the toughest gun laws in the nation.
"Mayor Bloomberg has advocated New York-style gun control for everyone, everywhere," said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. "This included a 24-hour period from Saturday morning to Sunday morning during which 24 people were shot. That's a pitiful demonstration of the abject failure of Bloomberg's anti-gun policies.
"We will probably see Mayor Bloomberg adopt the 'Obama protocol,' blaming someone else, or the gun laws in other states, when the sad truth is that New York gun control laws have failed consistently," he continued. "After this weekend, Bloomberg is going to have a hard time pandering his gun control agenda."
According to the New York Post, the Labor Day weekend saw an "epidemic of shootings" including one that occurred not far from where he was marching in the West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn.
The laws are made for the good guys to obey. Bad guys don't obey the laws. The law abiding citizens should have the right to protect themselves. i guess this show how money can't buy brains, right bloomburg? why don't you(bloomburg) take care of running nyc and leave the Constitution alone. the men who wrote the Constitution were much more concerned with preserving a country than you are with destroying this country. 46 people over one weekend? I wonder how many were shot in Mexico City in the same period? Viva New York! New York has always been a sore spot when it comes to Second Amendment rights. I would like to say that it's time for rational, sensible people to vote the left wingers like Bloomberg out of office, but like California, the left wingers run the big population centers, so it is the left wingers who will continue to get the votes in the state legislature. Statistics prove that more guns equal less crime, and perhaps the approach to unseating lefties like Bloomberg might be a concentrated campaign of education. I'm not holding my breath for any success on it, though.
