NJ Gov Christie reveals anti-gun stance in reciprocity debate

(GunReports.com) -- In a move that did not surprise New Jersey gun owners, Governor Chris Christie made it clear that he is no friend of the right to keep and bear arms in New Jersey when he spoke out against H.R. 822, the national carry reciprocity bill just passed in by the House.
As revealed in an email from a spokesman for the governor, Christie has not changed his position since his 2009 campaign when he told The Record:
I believe that each state should have the right to make firearms laws as they see fit. I dont believe its right for the federal government to get into the middle of this and decide firearms laws for the people of the state of New Jersey.
This in spite of the fact that the states entire NJ Republican delegation in the House voted for a bill that would grant National Reciprocity to any U.S. citizen who has a legitimate license to carry a discreet handgun in their home state for self-defense.
Frank Jack Fiamingo, President of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society, www.NJ2AS.com, said, "Considering that our governor will not allow the decent law-abiding citizens of our own state to legally carry a discreet handgun for self-defense, it is no surprise that he opposes this bill. Governor Christies inability to understand the basic laws of nature (such as the morality of self-defense) and the dictates of the Constitution he has sworn to uphold has kept NJ citizens in a constant state of victimization.
"If you are prevented from defending your life and your family once you leave your doorstep, you are forced into being a potential victim."
Has his conservative brain gotten democratically fat as well? Sounds like Governor Christie must have a winter home in Illinois,or else they are bunk-mates. And they say all of the nuts are here in California. Too bad we have these nut 'in power' anywhere. He doesn't give a crap about gun owners. Sounds like he's being honest about it. Most of our clowns in office will sling any words to gather votes. Very disappointing, but not surprising given the state he governs. Christie would have a hard time concealing a handgun unless he hid it in the crack of his enormous ass. first he endorses Romney and now this. He can forget about 2016!!! Christie is no more than a RINO in a Socialist Nanny state. He is against the right of regular law abiding citizens in NJ to protect themselves. He has already stated he does not want anymore guns on the streets of NJ even in the hands of law abiding citizens. He has also stated that he is for a total assault weapon ban. The only "weapon" allowed in NJ is a 3/4 ounce canister of pepper spray, that's all! If Christie ever becomes President, he would try and destroy Second Amendment rights for the entire country. He would make Obama look like an NRA member. "I dont believe its right for the federal government to get into the middle of this and decide firearms laws for the people of the state of New Jersey. Precisely the point Governor. There shouldn't BE any firearms laws in NJ, or any other state, except maybe something like 'along with universal service in the local militia, the state will provide a rifle to those who are unable to afford one'. I'm Tea Party Republican, firearm enthusiast, and a civil servant and I have been getting it from all directions since he took office. He made his bones going after crime and corruption, he campaigned on those same issues and got elected on those issues. We are still the most corrupt State,we are still crime ridden, our taxes are crushing us and our Governor is busy being a shill for the National Republican Party Elite, running around the country bad mouthing the Tea Party Conservatives and Independent voters who put him in office, all while trying to achieve more name recognition for an eventual Presidential run he is starting to remind me of OBama. N.J. gun laws are archaic to say the least. If Christie doesn't like H.R.822 now how do you think we'll fair if he gets in the White House. I voted for him once and once only. Vote to keep your freedoms and less Government and Join the N.R.A.even if you don't own a firearm they do more your freedoms than you know. So; are you New Jersey guys saying you want Corzine back? I live in NYC and am a gun owner and AGREE with Christiethe federal government should NOT ever tell states who can own a firearm ONCE the feds get involved then they ccan start confiscation WE NEED STATES RIGHTS against a savage like Bama and Hellery You know boys. We fought the War Between The States for precisely that issue, STATES RIGHTS. Too bad WE lost. No PVB we don't want Corzine back, besides he and his girlfriend (more jersey corruption) should be in jail by the time our next election comes around. But then again he is a high ranking Democratic thief, perhaps not. So, Christie doesn't think that the federal government should get in the middle of a state's gun laws. Sorry, Chris, but I believe your oath requires you to protect and defend the constitutions of your state AND the federal one. Obviously you haven't read the Second Amendment which is a part of the latter. It's only been around for 200+ years. And it trumps your restrictive and asinine state laws. I sure detect some anti-Christi karma in here. LOL Hey, it could be worse, you could have Perry, like I do. Remember Corzine, the Obama financial adviczar? I think if N.J. suddenly got a government that was totally clean, honest, and believed in The Constitution the shock would kill most Jerseyites.Give Cristy a chance. But NEVER outside of Jersey! NJ Bob - I didn't think you'd want Corzine back! I hope he goes to jail, too. $1.5 billion missing; under his watch? We must be careful about falling in love with a politician until we know all of his views on all subjects. Christy is good for NJ, perhaps but not for the USA. I joined the NRA before I ever owned a firearm as I know once we lose one right we lose them all Christie knows that the federal government should never be allowed to take over states rights and he is fighting a just cause. Let each state decide . The federal government already sold firearms to know criminals do we really need these misfits to take over state policy ? They wont even protect our boarders how can they decide who shall own a firearm ? Sylvan, the 2nd amendment is not a state or federal right, it's an inalienable right.which means it is a right that is incapable of being surrendered or transferred. also, you can't blame the whole federal government for what thr DOJ did. say good-bye to Holder. Speaking of DOJ, are we finally getting somewhere with "Furious?" http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/03/us/politics/us-offers-defense-in-operation-fast-and-furious.html Was a railroad cop when I lived in N.J.commissioned in both N.Y.and N.J.when off duty in N.Y. I was considered a peace officer 24 hours a day when I drove home to Jersey I had to secure my sidearm in the house and could not carry...how about that???? Until fairly recently, the cops at the VA hospital, here in San Antonio were in the same boat. They had to leave their sidearm at the hospital when they left the property and drive home in their uniform, it said "POLICE on the patch, but were not cossidered peace officers here. Dumbest shit thing I ever heard in my life. I think they have straightened it out now. The world is going nuts. The post office "police" cannot take their firearms home they are not considered peace officers. An 21 year old kid has a full carry permit as he lives TWO Blocks from me BUT I happen to be in NYC thus even an old disabled vet can only protect himself and his family in his home NY has had screwed up gun laws for YEARS. I went to college on Long Island in the 60s and never did understand the idea behind the Sullivan Law. Every guido, turd, PR and general asshole has an illegal gun but not a law abiding citizen. Makes you wonder. HELLery Clinton called NYC police "Murders" yet these misfits of society (according to Mrs Clinton) are allowed to have weapons to shoot and kill unarmed citizens After all The Clinton regime used automatic firearms to murder almost 100 people. Janet Reno knew when she ordered an unarmed child to be shot in the back and killed and his mother also unarmed murdered by a sniper she would never face a jury as American's we can be proud in the fact we have the best senate and congress money can buy and to make even more money the federal "law enforcement" sells guns to drug lords in other countries Don't forget, ATF also shot Randy Weaver's dog. Assholes. When they shot the DAWG THEN PETA got involved and that is why there was a CASH settlement for "wrongful death" as this action was brought about by the murdering of a DAWG and not the people so I left the cold bloody killing of the dog out as PETA made sure JUSTICE was served When they shot the DAWG THEN PETA got involved and that is why there was a CASH settlement for "wrongful death" as this action was brought about by the murdering of a DAWG and not the people so I left the cold bloody killing of the dog out as PETA made sure JUSTICE was served No government, federal or state should prohibit a law abiding citizen from owning a gun. Good for PETA. I think the Anti-guners are trying to do a pincer movment on the country. They got the east coast with NJ and NY and who knows what other state and they are trying real hard to get CommieMexifornia with all the stupid laws they keep trying to get in with out a fight, also they are trying to get Oregon and Washington But one thing they can count on is one hellava fight first. God Bless America and Out Troops Past Present and Future. Keeping to My Oath Locked Loaded and Keeping My Powder Dry. Get the US Out of the UN and the UN Out of the US They will only get the Portland population in Oregon. Rest are rednecks. Wa. is a toss up. Lots of goofy people there. Tend to be really liberal. Ca. is a lost cause. Sullivan made a habit of helping out groups like the Brady Campaign when it came to preventing law-abiding citizens from exercising their Second Amendment rights. He even testified before Congress for Handgun Control in favor of the Brady bill. During his 18-year tenure as Arapahoe County Sheriff, Sullivan was a poster boy for big government and was bestowed the title of national Sheriff of the Year in 2001 for his efforts at infringing your rights -- even at a national level. Whenever she needed him, Sarah Brady trotted out Sheriff Pat Sullivan as a token Republican who wanted to impose gun control on America -- and it worked. On Tuesday Sullivan was arrested for dealing meth to a man for
Well, lets just say it was for things I would rather not repeat. Thats right; a power-hungry sheriff intent on taking your freedoms turned out to be a drug-dealing, male prostitute-seeker. Former Sheriff Sullivan is now sitting in the Patrick J. Sullivan Jr. Detention Facility. Thats right. Hes sitting in the jail named for his honor. And this is the kind of person the Brady Campaign champions and uses to testify as an expert? Yeah, I saw that story. What an asshole. Being an ex cop myself, I hope they throw his ass UNDER the jail. Do not like crooked cops. LEAN FORWARD! (the battle cry of the simple) LEAN FORWARD! (the battle cry of the simple) You know guys, the government has now decided that if they think you are a terrorist, they can turn you over to the military and you will just disappear. So, what do you have to do to fall into that arbitrary category. Be careful is all I can say. Too many cans of bug repellant might be on the list of shit not allowed.
