Repairing Inexpensive Colt 22 Rifles: Courier, Colteer and Stagecoach

If someone were to ask you which products Colt has sold over the years, would you say a .22 semiautomatic rifle? I didn’t think you would. Colt made three versions of .22 rifles, the Courier, Colteer and Stagecoach, as well as others under several private-label names for Sears, Wards and other companies. This alloy rifle shot well, but did not hold up well. Unless it was kept oiled and clean, the alloy parts wore very rapidly. In spite of this, the little Colt rifles were good enough lightweight shooters that most owners will pay to get them fixed rather than discard theirs.

Troubleshooting Ejection Failures On the Remington 1100

Introduced in 1963, the Remington Model 1100 shotgun has been around for over 40 years now. Variations include a sporter for field shooting, a Magnum version for ducks and geese, as well as a skeet and trap model for those who enjoy breaking clay targets. In all, there have been well over 3,500,000 Model 1100s produced over this period of time so you are bound to see one (or more) come across your bench. In this article, I’ll cover some of the common problems that result in ejection failures along with a few of the possible glitches that aren’t seen very often. And, of course, I’ll examine the cures that will help you get this shotgun back in service as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Evil + Stupid = Bipartisan

What's ahead for the midterms? Jeff Knox at The Firearms Coalition says, 'There might be a few Democrats who haven't been able to bring themselves to declare support for the Second Amendment, but the official party line is broad support for the constitutional right, while interpreting it in the narrowest terms, and doing all they can to undermine and dismantle it.' As for the other party, 'Republicans, on the other hand, are generally supportive of the right to arms, but few of them have any more understanding of the issue than do the Democrats. They definitely lack the resolve and the backbone to vigorously oppose the Democrats' attacks on the Constitution and the President's appointments of radical extremists to the courts and high level government positions.'

McLEAN, Va. -- For 2010, FNH USA is rolling out a handful of handgun and rifle additions to its extensive firearms lines.

“Our goal for 2010 is to perfect and enhance the strong products we have in our firearms line and roll out our new line of handguns,” said Ken Pfau, vice president for law enforcement and commercial sales.

Here’s what’s new:

FNX-9 and FNX-40

The new FNX 9 and FNX 40 pistols have new ergonomic polymer frames with a low-bore axis, deep checkered grip panels, four interchangeable backstrap inserts, and profiled stainless steel slides with cocking serrations front and rear.

The new guns also have 4” hammer-forged stainless barrels, ambidextrous operating controls, and decockers and manual safeties.

FNP-45 Tactical

Originally developed for the U.S. Joint Combat Pistol Program and intended for field operations, the FNP-45 Tactical offers the standard FNP-45 ACP performance plus a 5.3” stainless steel barrel with a threaded muzzle to accept a sound suppressor or compensator.

The new FDE stainless steel slide is fitted with high-profile combat night sights and includes two mounting bases to accept an optional red dot electronic sight. Each FNP-45 Tactical comes with three 15-round magazines and an Eagle tactical soft case.

FN Five-SeveN

The Five-SeveN pistol now comes with the option of adjustable target sights or fixed three-dot sights. It is available in olive drab green, matte black or flat dark earth finishes. It fires the low recoil 5.7x28mm cartridge.

SCAR 16S

This semi-auto version of the U.S. Special Operations Command’s newest service rifle is now available in matte black with all the same features as the flat dark earth model. It can be purchased with 10- or 30-round magazines.

SCAR 17S

The SCAR 17S is now available for civilian purchase. Chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO (308 Win.) and slightly heavier than the SCAR 16S, the SCAR 17S has ambidextrous operating controls, a free-floating cold hammer-forged Mil-Spec barrel with hard-chromed bore; and a receiver-integrated Mil-Std 1913 optical rail plus three accessory rails for mounting scopes, electronic sights, lights, or lasers.

The side-folding polymer stock is adjustable for comb height and has six settings for length of pull. The SCAR also features a reciprocating charging handle.

FNAR

The FNAR is now available with 16” cold hammer forged Mil-Spec fluted barrel with a hard-chromed bore and target crown barrel.

This semi-automatic rifle has an ambidextrous magazine release button that drops the detachable 20-, 10- or 5-round steel box magazine (DBM). A one-piece receiver mounted MIL-STD 1913 optical rail comes standard and there are three rails on the stock’s fore-end for mounting tactical lights or lasers.

FN Accessories

FNH USA is also providing several new accessories for 2010:

  • A Shooter’s Mat in olive drab color.
  • Two new custom-formed carry cases for the PS90 and FS2000 with special foam cut-out sections to for the carbine and an external pocket for magazines and accessories.
  • A new FS2000 Tactical Foregrip to replace the current foregrip with a tri-rail MIL-STD 1913 forend for mounting lights, pods, lasers and other accessories.

Does anyone own the FN 5.7x28mm pistol? I'm interested in one, however I haven't talked to anyone who has actually owned one.

I have had one for several years now. It is slightly large in the grip area for my hands. But that is only a VERY minor distraction. It holds a lot of ammo. I think 21 rounds in all. It is fun to shoot. At the range, everyone looks at you as you just keep shooting and shooting until the magazine is empty. Very snappy round. Ammo now is 21-22$ for 50 rounds when you can get it from a retailer. I have not tried to find a holster for it, but it is an one of a kind shape and may not have very many choices. Still some BS out there about it being a "cop killer" due to some older ammo that had a metal penetrator in it. It is no longer for sale as standard ammo. Also have the PS90 that uses the same ammo. Fun gun but limited usage. I am thinking of getting the new M4 upper designed to use the cool PS90 mags on top of the upper itself. Should be a cool little round in a 16 inch barrel.

A friend has one - I find it very pleasurable to shoot and didn't notice the grip being large. It does fill my hand, but used to carry an M-9, so I'm used to that. It is fun, and I would probably buy one if they were more in the price range of XD's.

Recoil was extremely light, and the pistol was very accurate.
