FOX Bans Firearms and Ammunition Advertisements

(GunReports.com) -- The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) — the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry — has learned that FOX Sports Media Group has banned advertisements featuring firearms and ammunition from its coverage of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) events.

While the UFC has yet to make an official announcement, NSSF has confirmed that “absolutely no firearms, ammo, hunting or knife companies will be permitted as sponsors in any Zuffa-promoted events.” [GR note: Zuffa LLC is the owner and operator of the UFC.]

NSSF is encouraging all gun owners, sportsmen and firearms enthusiasts to contact FOX today and urge them to rescind this anti-gun corporate policy. FOX’s decision to ban advertisements for lawful products owned by more than 80 million Americans is nothing more than corporate gun control. We expect better from FOX. So should you.

I just submitted th efollowing to FOX Sports via their "Contact Us" email. "I have just learned FOX Sports has banned all advertizing from manufacturers of firearms, ammunition and knives as produced by law abiding manufacturers. Congratulations ladies and gentlemen, you have just jumped onto the progressive/liberal/democrat anti-American band wagon. You should be proud of yourselves for having just alienated yourself from some 80 million American firearms owners. I, for one, will NEVER watch a FOX Sports produced program again and I will do everything in my power to get my friends and family to boycott FOX Sports at ALL levels."

Very disappointing! For an affiliate of FOX News, who claims to be "fair and balanced", this is mighty peculiar. I wonder what Neil Cavuto, Sean Hannity, Dick Morris, and Bill O'Reilly will have to say about this.

Myself and millions of gun owners and sportsmen and sportswomen will no longer be watching fox stations. I and many others no longer watch nbc, abc,cbs programming and now will add fox to the mix. Any sponsors I can possibly avoid will be on my no buy list until this kind of discrimination stops. Looks like the internet and reloading will be receiving more of my time. That station blatantly interprets the news the way they want to, but Fox lies about the details. Seems to me that it is Zuffa, not Fox, that should be the primary object of any action. It is important to note that Fox is not banning gun/ammo/knife advertising on any program EXCEPT the Zuffa promoted ones (UFC). But Fox is caving-in to an apparent Zuffa demand.

I know the difference between news and sports, but they are owned by the same company, and I don't watch sports as I usually have productive things to do with my time. So I quit watching the Fox news. If you're well enough off to watch sports and not have to make money or fix things or take care of animals and your house, good for you. I'm not. But I wasn't about to do anything to support Fox. I can handle clear opinion even if I disagree with it - like CNN - but I have trouble with the Fox personalities telling outright lies about events and even history. They still use that old Reagan thing about 'mis-spoke' to excuse it, but an untruth is still a lie. And I won't keep tuning in to let someone lie to me.
