Glock Ex-General Counsel in Racketeering Trial

October 3, 2011

(GunReports.com) -- Glock Inc.'s former general counsel goes to trial Oct. 24 in Georgia's Cobb County Superior Court on theft and racketeering charges related to allegations that he misappropriated millions of dollars from the international firearms maker.

Paul F. Jannuzzo, a former New Jersey prosecutor who served as Austria-based Glock's general counsel and top executive in the U.S. from 1991 to 2003, was extradited earlier this year from Amsterdam, where he fled in 2009 shortly before he was scheduled to go to trial on the charges.

The indictment accuses Jannuzzo of engaging in a racketeering scheme to siphon corporate funds with the help of Dunwoody lawyer Peter S. Manown, a former senior vice president of the company. Manown, at one time an attorney with the defunct Atlanta law firm Cofer Beauchamp Stradley & Hicks, earlier pleaded guilty to three counts of felony theft and was sentenced on Jan. 7, 2008 to 10 years of probation. He is expected to be the state's primary witness against Jannuzzo.

Glock, which manufactures semi-automatic, polymer handguns, supplies firearms to the majority of law enforcement agencies in the U.S. The closely held company is controlled by 82-year-old Austrian founder Gaston Glock. Its U.S. headquarters is in Smyrna, where the firearms are assembled.

I'm happy they got there clowns, though it does make me wonder how the total got so high before anyone was caught....

All the bosses in America who make the rules, make them for the little guy and they choose to ignore them......

The firearms business is not immune to the predation of crooks and miscreants. All who violate their trust and the law must be held accountable.

Isn't interesting in what state Jannuzzo was a prosecutor?

Ha! So, PVB, I wasn't the only one to notice. And the name too, I might add. A guy with a name ending in 'zzo', from New Jersey, crooked? Who could see that coming?

Supposedly, he was a very staunch pro-gunner before becoming a NJ prosecutor. Did you read the article lined above? Apparently, Jannuzzo and his partner in crime have no love lost for Gaston's ethics.

david b....Holder's name ends in der and he's as crooked as the day is long.....

I'd like to know why it is this guy gets probation with no mention of pay back while the guy down the street that steals less than 5 grand gets 10 to 20 yrs in prison. OH I forgot the guy down the street can't pay the court charges cause his kids need to eat.

Mariano - yeah, I know. Clearly I was playing on the stereotype. Too much Sopranos lately I guess, not to mention that I grew up in a 'family run' town, back in the day. But still, a stereotype isn't fair to everyone who fits it. If you were offended, I apologize. My comment was intended to be more tongue in cheek than just insulting, but I keep forgetting that some things don't translate well from spoken to written.

david b....apology accepted...it hit close to home but I still believe Jannuzzo should get locked up and the key thrown away.....
