Hey, Stupid UK: Let Your Cops and Fair Citizens Carry Guns!

(GunReports.com) -- Doug Giles writes at Townhall.com:
Do you know whats truly pathetic (other than BHOs first two and half years in office)? Ill tell you what: the British polices limp wrist, no-gun, nonsensical approach to the looting and rioting of Britains working class youths. Thats what!
In Texas, where I grew up, the bollocks were seeing in the UK right now would have lasted maybe five, possibly ten minutes max, before a private citizen, business owner, or Sheriff Dudley Paunch Gut of the Muleshoe PD woulda put a hollow point in some skinny hooligans backside. It would have been the shortest-lived revolt in modern history. Next!

Hey Doug, what do you care what they do in the UK??? Why do we care? Well, these idiots in the US are always telling us to be more like Euro-Tards. If it was not for eviltempered Americans, those pukes would be hailing the Fuehrer right now... Remember the Korean shop owners during the most recent Watts riots? They stood guard on their stores with AR-15s and shotguns. Guess whose stores didn't burn? The London cops aren't even allowed to use their clubs on the hooligans. Rodney King riots. The Korean shop owners ask for volunteers. They got paid to sit on the roof or at the door. Requirements Be Black and own a shotgun. von mazur - WHAT idiots in the US tell you to be more like Euro-Tards? Most of us laugh up our sleeves at continentals, and tell our Brit friends they need to get their guns back. Europeans collectively are a bunch of bozos - and the EU regulations prove it. For playhookie: Doug cares because he knows that the world is watching. Anti-gunners are watching and saying "See, nobody died!" Well, not for me. Not in America. Someone messes with us, blast them. It has always amused me that Europeans tend to look down their noses at the USA.....until they need us to bail their uppity asses out of a bind. This "We are more civilized than you" attitude is very prevalent in the UK, France, and to some extent in Germany. While I have enjoyed my travels throughout Europe, and have found some Europeans really do appreciate us, I have always breathed a sigh of gratitude and relief as my aircraft touched down on an American runway. There just really isn't anyplace like home. Civilized? Is that EU for 'wussified'? (or a similar word starting with "p"?) You got it, david b..... I read that the Brits asked for a former NYPD chief to go there as an adviser. They should have asked him to bring along a couple dozen shipping containers full of Glocks, Mossberg riot shotguns, cases of ammo and lots of shooting gear. Gentlemen we must focus it its not about republican ,democrat ,race ,or even whether your neighbor is or is not a gun owner. It is about one group of people or even one individual deciding how someone else should live ,what they should value, and how they should spend their money. This is what people have been doing since the beginning of human government. We have to take responsibility some times for our own mistakes or continue to suffer this fear that seems run through the gun world relentlessly. My God what does my gun ownership have to do with government. Yet somehow it is there and without the will of the people who owned them. We are just as much citizens as people that collect cars. I wonder how many people die in car accidents. Pretty soon we will think it is a good idea to put collars on our necks that choke us if we breath too much. They are (elected) officials. Government should be limited to the quality of firearms nothing frightens me more than a gun that doesn't work. And maybe for legal reasons limiting ownership by known offenders. Huh? I'm glad we revolted against the "limey's" or we'd be in the same boat. This adds new truthfulness to the ole saying, when your guns are taken away, only the criminals will have the guns... Next time let the Germans have them first, then go save them. They will never ban guns again. The comment by veprk, caused me to take an interesting view of something that might be one causative factor in the British reasoning behind their universal disarmament of their citizens. Perhaps the insular environment of the British Isles colors the Brits' thinking into believing they do not need an armed civilian populace, since the last time they were invaded was in 1066, by the forces of William the Conqueror. Of course, since that time they have been killing each other over a number of issues, so one would think that they'd wise up and realize that their citizens and cops still need the right to keep and bear arms. Colonel - I suspect the Brits have had their thinking affected to a large degree by that 'civilized' continental thinking we discussed earlier. In short, that they somehow think they can remain free people without ever having to defend themselves, or remain safe in their homes without any means of effective protection. That stuff might work in a stable, economically comfortable, relatively homogenous and undivided society, but doesn't seem to work well in anything less. I'm sure their police don't respond any faster than ours do, and I know that no cop can respond to an emergency call your killer doesn't let you make. I wonder if they'd be willing to trust their police to protect them from another French invasion, or if they'd want guns? I wonder how they'll feel if all their islamic british subjects who live there would go into open revolt? Do you expect they'd call us for help? Or would they try to 'sort things out' over a cup of tea? Well, david b, I think that any way one views it, the Brits are living in some sort of Utopian dream world. Every time something happens to shake them out of it, they somehow view it as an isolated incident that will sort of just go away. That appears to be the main line of reasoning (or lack of reasoning) that is prevalent throughout the European Union. Of course when these pesky little aberrations do arise, like our anti-freedom Americans, the Europeans blame the inanimate objects. Witness that Norway is now reviewing their firearms laws with a look to tighten them more than they already are. And.....we also hear that Norway's neighbor, Finland, is also going to tighten their firearms laws as well. Is it any wonder the European Union is going to hell? This is so typical of socialist governments. I suppose that means that some day we'll be going back over there to bail them out again - only this time from the EU government, or from the NATO-NWO. It appears that the European Union may self-destruct due to the variety of domestic problems that are surfacing within each member nation. Their unit of currency, the Euro, is proving very problematic, since each country's own financial difficulties automatically affect the Euro. Before they standardized their currency, each nation's financial woes were, essentially, the problem of the individual nations. What is needed in Europe is a consolidation of nations in a federal union much like our states. Once that has been established, a common currency can be established. Since the Europeans went about this whole thing backwards, there is a high likelihood that the Euro will die, and each nation's currency will, once again, be the standard within each nation. Alas, I cannot begin to visualize a "United States of Europe" as something that we will see in our lifetime, if for no other reason that national pride and identities will hinder each step taken toward that goal.
