Rep. Darrell Issa

Issa to Holder:
You're Incompetent, Untrustworthy

October 10, 2011

Printer Friendly | Email |

(GunReports.com) -- Rep. Darrell Issa, who is leading a probe into the Fast and Furious Mexican gunrunning scandal, launched a scathing attack on Attorney General Eric Holder on Monday, accusing him of being incompetent, untrustworthy and negligent, according to a report on Newsmax.com.

In a letter to Holder, the California Republican named two senior officials in the Department of Justice he contends were fully aware of the project that allowed hundreds of high-powered weapons to fall into the hands of Mexican drug cartels.

“Whether you realize yet or not, you own Fast and Furious. It is your responsibility,” wrote Issa, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee.

“You have made numerous statements about Fast and Furious that have eventually been proven to be untrue. Your lack of trustworthiness while speaking about Fast and Furious has called into question your overall credibility as Attorney General.

“The time for deflecting blame and obstructing our investigation is over,” Issa wrote.

Absolutely true. I wish I could think of a way to get a lot more coverage of this issue in my area's media. I wonder if we could somehow instigate a call / write / e-mail program among shooting clubs and the members of national organizations to get members bugging their local media for more F&F stories and analysis? Your thoughts, guys?

We all knew that F&F would come back to bite these incompetents in the behind. Obama and his entire cabinet have been skirting the laws of the land for too long. With the media going F&F on the story, we should sit back and watch it go up the chain of command.Eric Holder is a coward and a liar, he will most certainly implicate others.

Beginning with lowest ranking BATF agent and going right to the very top, imagine what would happen if anyone in that chain initiated such a program. Heads would roll. The reason the top does not roll heads, it would be their heads. Bud

At my age, I should know better than to place a great amount of confidence into the prosecution of this mess. That said, however, and since I tend to be eternally optimistic, I am patiently awaiting the outcome of the investigation into F&F. From what I can see, the national news media are continuing to keep this thing alive, so we may yet see the appropriate heads rolling in this administration.

Is this America or Nigeria? I am betting that the whole bag of dirt escapes this mess.

The BATF needs to be disolved. They are the most incompetent federal agency in the government. Waco and Ruby Ridge were both set ups by BATF and they continue to get away with being incompetent and without scruples. Holder is the head of the BATF and needs to be removed immediately along with his personal army of BATF low lifes.

Obama hasn't done or said anything about him maybe he is afraid holder will implicate him or maybe holder works for the cartels or maybe Obama told holderto start this program so he and his anti gun buddies could push through some bills banning so called "assault weapons" and hi cap mags and now the whole thing has blown up in thier faces and he hopes if he acts stupid and drags his feet on firing his buddy holder it'll just blow over and go away.

Obama does not care. He thinks he is above the law, and God. It is clear as black, and white, when you look at his actions. His actions, or inaction's, speak much louder than his words.

America, without MY vote elected this guy and the Republicans can't seem to come up with anyone that isn't batshit crazy, so get ready for 4 more years of this. BUT, with a lame duck, it will get much worse.

Personally, I think the politicians are happy at the pace of unraveling in this matter; it will be coming to a head just in time for everybody to know about it and remember it come primary elections. If it blew up when we all wanted it to, Obama would have had time to fix it and be forgiven by voter apathy.

I truly hope that you are correct, PVB. May be by next November the mainstream media will also have discovered this issue and, more importantly, what it really means. But as for now, even Holder can be prosecuted for perjury.

There is plenty of justifiable reason to be concerned that BHO might be re-elected. If the Republican party doesn't get its' act together and field a genuinely viable candidate, we may be in for a very, very bad time following November 2012.

It is pretty scary. If he doesn't have to stump for money and stays in D. C. to work us over for 4 years, there is no telling what else O can come up with.

"You're Incompetent, Untrustworthy" But we knew that from Holder's first round of Government "Service". Obama must like holder because they're birds of a feather.

Look what I just found! http://www.examiner.com/gun-rights-in-national/hiding-plain-sight-how-did-obama-know-about-gunwalker-before-holder?CID=examiner_alerts_article

Interesting. I am again shocked, shocked I tell you that our government officials would lie to us. All I can say is "keep that vaseline jar close at hand boys".

What the heck is Obama and his merry band of incompetents feeding the populace?. Is there one single person on this forum thinking Obama is right for the job of President? He has proven over and over again in the last few years that he thinks he is King of America. There's not enough Vaseline in the kingdom to quell the pain of another Obama victory.

I agree Sharps but the republicans need to get the batshit crazies out of town. And Cain is a loose cannon.

They're all loose cannons. We get to choose from Loose Cannons A, B, C, D... in the primary, and then get to choose between Loose Cannon D and Loose Cannon R in the general election. It's one of the biggest problems with our election process right now.

The best government money can buy. HELP!

P V B - I don't think the problem is in the process. I would suggest instead that it is in the political parties and how they choose who even gets into that process. E.g. - exactly how do those folks who are lined up now get to be in the run for the primary? It seems to me they 'declare' themselves, and then the state party members vote for them in 'straw polls' and then they end up as Primary candidates. Is that basically it? So why is it that people vote for any darned moron that opens his or her mouth and starts talking like a candidate instead of deciding in some factual way who should run? I don't think the parties even declare a platform of what they (allegedly) stand for prior to finding out what the primary horse-in-the-lead stands for. It's no wonder the nation is being jerked around by government if our parties goals are as short term as a corporations' quarterly targets.

The way the process was described to me by a close friend whose associate tried to run for office, potential candidates declare their intent, and then get reviewed by the party committees. You have to be willing to toe the party line, or you will never see your name on the ticket. Admittedly, I only have second hand knowledge of the process and no intent of ever gaining the experience first hand....

Gosh, if that is true then the GOP is in BIG TROUBLE this time around, because it means that the party committees are only vetting bozos. (Either that or they really want Mitt for the real candidate and are trying to put up clowns against him to drive voters his way.) But then, how did Ron Paul get up there again? As far as I can tell, he's the closest thing they've got to 'another Goldwater', and he's the only one I'd jump the fence to vote for. To me, he's the only one who has a consistent message and the only hope of turning the wheel so we don't drive this nation off the cliff. And that probably applies to both parties....

On the other hand, if one has to toe the party line, then people like Michelle Bachman make me afraid of ANY Republican. If THAT is the party line, I'm really worried.

Big party politics is, and has always been, something akin to a club or association of people who sorta share the same basic ideas and have the financial clout to make things happen. It is a scaled up version of what most of us would likely refer to as the "Old Boy Network" in our communities. In my town, as many of you may remember, we voted to recall the entire city council. We are now in the process of early voting which will be culminated on 8 November. It should be interesting to see what actually happens. Now, my friends, the reason that I bring this up is to open the door to ideas as to how we could bring about a national recall, but then I'd guess that is a dream that will never be realized.

Yes, both parties play that way. My friend's associate is a pro-gun, non-socialist, democrat in California. I suppose if you are wealthy enough to finance your own campaign as an independent, you could get somewhere at local levels, though that's probably cost-prohibitive at state and federal levels.

I think if you want a national recall, you need a financier. Obama is supposedly expected to raise $1 Billion for his next run at running us aground. I'd fathom a guess that a recall election of even one federal official would be of that magnitude.

At the risk of hijacking the thread, does anybody know anything about the "Occupy" movement beyond it being financed by Canadians looking for an "Arab Spring" style series of revolutions?

WHERE did you get that piece of info, P V B?

I read about the Canadians in an article on-line the other day - not some hokey forum. Apparently, it is a company known for spoofing advertisements, and obtaining large donations from a 52 yr old retired Wall St broker.

That sounds like the same folks who released the 'news' a few months back that Internet Explorer users scored lower IQs than users of other browsers. It was totally bogus, but sounded so real that people were upset and of course MicroSoft was incensed!

However, one has to wonder if it's not just some BS from the Koch Brothers anti-worker, pro-corporation propaganda set-up too. Arab Spring revolution? What a crock. I don't believe a word of it.

I'll wait to see something that constitutes actual evidence - and not some of Breitbart's contrived entrapments either, nor some video of some random guy or gal spouting off about 'arab spring in America'. Out of work actors are too easy to find for that to be believable, and we all remember the bus-loads of GOP party pros who went to Florida to protest the recounts in 2000 - all of them pretending to be violently incensed Floridians. (Many of those folks were subsequently identified as living in the mid-west and being GOP activists.) Videos are too easy to fake, and people seem to think they are ALL genuine.

I have also heard or read that Obama or Ossama or whatever the hell his name is will have access to $1 BILLION. Now, that in itself tells me that there is something TERRIBLY wrong with the system. A billion dollars. WTF. We ARE doomed. Keep buying ammo.

Hey Cecil S - I remember one time way back in the '70's or so when somebody first spent a million on a campaign for some office or other. It was a lot of money back then, and made the national news. A billion isn't so much these days, but what I think is remarkable is that BO hasn't been doing fund-raiser campaigning and that just seems to have rolled in the door. However, once the GOP primary is settled, I'm sure that guy will have about a billion or more in contributions - after all that is the banker's and billionaire's party, so there should be PLENTY of money to go up against Obama.

Actually, wall street is playing both sides of the fence. BHO is getting a lot of money from them cause he has failed to regulate the banking industry. 28% of corporate profits now come from the financial industry. Easier to make deals than make goods. Politicians should all end up in hell with Ghadafi.

Actually, I think there are special levels of hell for politicians and another for bankers. but what do I know? I'm just another working class guy.

I just hope when I get there, I am in charge of the work details. Payback is always a bitch. LOL

I hear it's crazy cold way down there....

I can deal with the cold. I worked Alaska for 15 years. It's the heat that kicks MY ass.

LOL, me too. Cold only hurts, heat wipes me out. I can handle 'hurts'.
