Justice leaks gun-trace data: Laws broken?

November 28, 2011

(GunReports.com) -- Gun Rights Examiner David Codrea says that Sen. Dianne Feinstein may have broken the law by revealing firearms trace data.

Codrea wrote:

"Persons within the Department of Justice whose identities are not yet publicly known apparently broke the law by leaking firearms trace data to Sen. Dianne Feinstein, which she introduced in the Senate Judiciary Committee record in the hearing on Department of Justice oversight earlier this month."

“If I may,” Senator Feinstein requested at the beginning of her questioning of Attorney General Eric Holder (see webcast, at the 69:45 mark), I'd like to put in the record the official firearms trace data from the Department of Justice from 12/1/2006 to 2000...excuse me, 9/30/2011...this is guns [unintelligible] Mexico.”

Sharing such data is prohibited by the Tiahrt Amendment, unless it's by law enforcement agencies and prosecutors, and only then in the course of a criminal investigation. Congress isn't exempted, Codrea wrote.

put her in jail

She needs keel hauled!! Like on an oil tanker leaking crude!!

Summary execution by firing squad seems more apropos.......

Actually, summary execution with prejudice.

Feinstein is typical of the Liberal Elite attitude that 'laws are for little people." To once again paraphrase Belushi, "We're SENATORS. We can get away with ANYTHING!!!

I'm beginning the Roman Senate had a good method for dealing with this stuff...You GO, Brutus!

Pelosi, Feinstein, and Boxer -- what in the world is wrong with the voters in CA??!!

@SportsDen: "Too much LDS in the sixties!" - James T. Kirk

WHY is there a question mark in the title of this article? According to the Examiner piece, the law WAS broken by someone at DOJ. A broken law is a broken law, period. The only question I can see is if Feinstein is also in violation by discussing such illegally obtained information.

Didn't Obama promise early on that he would prosecute ANY leaker from his administration? Here's one, hiding in DOJ.

she should have been in jail a long time ago

the very least that must happen is she be charged with the crime she committed, prosecuted and if convicted stripped of all government benefits and titles and jobs. what attorneys among the readership has the courage to take this challenge on? i will press the charges but can't afford to pay the tab without big time help. if you are serious so am i.

I say again, if you are in gov't, "laws are for 'little people'..." Also, you can always tell when a politician is lying--his/her lips are moving.

Yep, ol' Dianne ought to be brought up on charges. And she will be. Just as soon as Scooter Libby is for breaking Valerie Plum's cover. Slipstick is right, the law is for little people who have neither big money (unless you really step in it like Madoff), or big political pull.

Dianne Frankinstien along with Boxer and Piglousi and a hole bunch more should have been tried for treason and shot along time ago. God Bless America and Our Troops Past Present and Future.
