National Rifle Association officer Wayne LaPierre says "Fast and Furious" was a plot to undermine the Second Amendment.

NRA's LaPierre: 'Fast and Furious'
Was Plot Against Second Amendment

(GunReports.com) -- The government-sanctioned gunrunning operation Fast and Furious was a plot to undermine Second Amendment rights in the United States, National Rifle Association officer Wayne LaPierre charged on Friday in an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV.

“It’s the only thing that makes any sense,” LaPierre said. “Over a period of two or three years they were running thousands and thousands of guns to the most evil people on earth. At the same time they were yelling ’90 percent… of the guns the Mexican drug cartels are using come from the United States.’

A private citizen who committed this crime would have been indicted, tried and in jail. Yet, Eric Holder walks around denying he knew anything and the administration hampers the investigation. Is Holder the new "Untouchable"?

Wayne's almost right: Nothing else makes sense, except if Obama wanted an undeclared war against Mexico's government.

Any gun trace or sting could have been conducted with two or three dozen weapons. Two thousand? No other explanation for a number that high than an attempt to jury rig the statistics of US guns found in Mexico. To use those statistics as pretext to close gun shops and ban assault weapons. People now dying because of the anti gun shenanigans of an ideologicly driven administration. Blood on your hands Holder. Shame on Obama. Just remember: nobody died because of Watergate.

I'd say most of us here think LaPierre is right, but it's not like we needed him to tell us. Maybe the couch-taters watching the evening news do?

Most of the weapons I've seen are military weapons look closely at what appears to be ar 15s if you look at the receivers they say m16a1 or m16a2 on them also I've seen m 60s, m 79 grenade launchers, rpgs, m 2 bmgs and a whole lot of other military weapons and ordinance . When's the last time you went to your everyday average gun store and have seen racks of m 16s, m 60s, rpgs and m 79 grenade launchers for sale to the general public w/out the extra paperwork and background checks and permission from the govt. ? Also of all the ar 15s I've seen not one had m 16 printed on it the Obama govt. And the Mexican govt. Know that the average news reporter and Joe citizen won't know the difference between a ar 15 and a m 16 and that you just can't buy a m 60 the way you can buy a civilian firearm. It's just like the "assault weapon" deal an assault weapon is a select fire weapon capable of fully automatic fire where as a paramilitary semi automatic firearm can only fire 1 bullet w/ each pull of the trigger ie: the m 16 and the ar 15 look the same but they are very different weapons.

The question you have to ask is why would a cartel member pay $900 to $1500 for a semi-automatic AR-style rifle in the U.S. when he can buy a fully automatic AK-47 for $75 on the blackmarket in Mexico or South America?

I know I'm a bit late to the table here, but I'll add my two cents anyway, even if I am somewhat off topic. I agree with david b's comment and question. As late as I am to this discussion, LaPierre is even later. I'd like to see the NRA play less political games and more work for their money protecting the 2A. Instead the NRA engages in warfare with other no b.s. 2A organizations. For example, the NRA tried to impede the efforts of the SAF when they tried Heller and McDonald. They said it wasn't the right time to try those cases. Now the NRA is attacking every 2A organization that disagrees with their support for H.R. 822 instead of supporting the much better H.R. 2900. The NRA is so overbloated that in many ways they seem to have become more of an arm of the progressive movement than a staunch defender of the 2A. Every time the NRA opens its mouth, they remind me of and sound like our Congress. Left verus right, Dem versus Rep, Liberal versus Conservative. Hell with the Constitution. I remain a member for sokidarity's sake, but I feel like my money is being used to buy new suits and ties and create a thousand more gun laws!

..solidarity's sake,..

H.R. 2900? Scroogle, here I come again! http://www.scroogle.org/ (Private searches, guys, also available from Ixquick.com)

OK, yeah, H.R. 2900 looks as if it's simpler for me in terms of my being in compliance, and it's written more plainly. I can support this over H.R. 822.

(BTW, that was supposed to be www.ixquick.com in my last comment. But if you don't want everyone knowing your business - what you search for information about - use some kind of proxy searching and surfing. There are lots of others also.)

H.R. 2900, dubbed the SAFE Act, Secure Access to Firearms Enhancement Act of 2011. While it addresses reciprocity, it also protects the carry rights of citizens from states like Vermont that have no permits. Check it out. And,..Thanks for the search tip!

The SAFE act will never get out of the Senate as long as the Democrats hold the majority. Even if someone held a gun to his head, Obama would never sign it. We need to return control of the White House and Senate to Republican hands.

Quit looking for plots and conspiracies, Mr. La Pierre. Concentrate on running the NRA and protecting rights. Everyone knows it was a bad, poorly-run operation. Looking for conspiracies behind every rock is a waste of time.
