Repairing Inexpensive Colt 22 Rifles: Courier, Colteer and Stagecoach

If someone were to ask you which products Colt has sold over the years, would you say a .22 semiautomatic rifle? I didn’t think you would. Colt made three versions of .22 rifles, the Courier, Colteer and Stagecoach, as well as others under several private-label names for Sears, Wards and other companies. This alloy rifle shot well, but did not hold up well. Unless it was kept oiled and clean, the alloy parts wore very rapidly. In spite of this, the little Colt rifles were good enough lightweight shooters that most owners will pay to get them fixed rather than discard theirs.

Troubleshooting Ejection Failures On the Remington 1100

Introduced in 1963, the Remington Model 1100 shotgun has been around for over 40 years now. Variations include a sporter for field shooting, a Magnum version for ducks and geese, as well as a skeet and trap model for those who enjoy breaking clay targets. In all, there have been well over 3,500,000 Model 1100s produced over this period of time so you are bound to see one (or more) come across your bench. In this article, I’ll cover some of the common problems that result in ejection failures along with a few of the possible glitches that aren’t seen very often. And, of course, I’ll examine the cures that will help you get this shotgun back in service as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Evil + Stupid = Bipartisan

What's ahead for the midterms? Jeff Knox at The Firearms Coalition says, 'There might be a few Democrats who haven't been able to bring themselves to declare support for the Second Amendment, but the official party line is broad support for the constitutional right, while interpreting it in the narrowest terms, and doing all they can to undermine and dismantle it.' As for the other party, 'Republicans, on the other hand, are generally supportive of the right to arms, but few of them have any more understanding of the issue than do the Democrats. They definitely lack the resolve and the backbone to vigorously oppose the Democrats' attacks on the Constitution and the President's appointments of radical extremists to the courts and high level government positions.'

One-gun-a-month bill passes in N.J.

June 30, 2009

Printer Friendly | Email |

TRENTON -- The New Jersey Legislature passed a bill last week that could make New Jersey the fourth state with a one-handgun-per-month buying limit.

The measure was approved in the Senate with the minimum 21 votes after Sen. Fred Madden (D., Gloucester) dropped his opposition to the idea. Madden was one of three South Jersey Democrats who previously voted against the plan, joining all 17 Senate Republicans to block it.

But the former state police superintendent changed his vote after Gov. Corzine agreed to form a task force that will examine the law's impact and draw up recommendations that could lead to exemptions for gun collectors and competitive and recreational shooters.

Republicans argued that the law will do little to stop criminals. New Jersey has some of the toughest gun laws in the nation, and most guns used in crimes come from other states.

"You are taking away the most fundamental right that we as Americans have," said Sen. Kevin O'Toole (R., Essex). "Do you really think this is going to do one iota to stop and curb some of the horrific gang violence that we have?"

Under the bill, buyers would be restricted to one handgun purchase every 30 days--up to 13 a year because of timing quirks.

Let me do some math... It takes anywhere from five to eight months to jump through all the hoops, grease all the palms, and get the permit for permission to buy any handgun in NJ already. So, one-gun-a-month is what? A limitation on a process that's already a two-gun-a-year system?

Does NJ attract stupid people, or are they just overbreeding there?

Gaviota

NJ LEADERS CAN DO NOTHING RIGHT OR THEY CAN NOT DO NOTHING WRONG RIGHT. I DON'T KNOW ANY CRIMMINALS BUYING GUN LEGALLY. SO LETS DO THE MATH-----1 GUN A MONTH EQUALS 12 GUNS A YEAR. THANKS---IN MY FAMILY THER ARE 8 OF US SO NOW A CAN BUT 8X12--96 GUNS A YEAR LEAGALLY------THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is just another example of the "Ganster Government" that is running this country today Ray in Dearborn

Well that's true for now ZIG. But when it goes to one a year. The math will change. And to none per month, even again. Gaviota, they attract oversexed idiots.

Gaviota: They're over breeding. Watch the movie "Idiocracy" in which a scientific case study on this subject is performed. ;-)

On its face, this appears to be a stupid, laughable law.....even though it IS an infringement on Second Amendment rights. AND, my colleagues, that is precisely the point of this law. While we may poke fun at a law that restricts a buyer to one gun per month, because not many of us can really afford to purchase one gun per month, there is something more sinister afoot. This is an example of one of those "reasonable", "painless", "who cares?" laws that the anti-Second Amendment forces like to push on to the public. It gives the anti-gun folks the appearance of taking steps to fight crime, while it does nothing of the sort. AND.....It is a "foot in the door" law that DOES infringe on our rights, so the anti-gun guys can point to it and tell us that it wasn't so bad, so let's try another more onerous law. Do not be misled by these charlatans! They are going to try every trick they can to disarm law abiding Americans.

I think there is an 18 step program the Brady's have that is a step by step program that slowly takes away your gun rights completely. Once again you are correct Col. Novack, this is one of those steps.

Apparently the stupidity and inbreeding have reached a fever pitch in N.J. Nothing of any value or commonsense comes from this state. It is filled w/ nothing but Communists and government officials that want to doom America. Why you people don't pull your heads out of your asses and do something is beyond me. I think it is SERIOUSLY time to CLOSE ALL BOARDERS around N.J. and not let these people or there problems or small minded ideas spread to other states. Lets keep these morons where they belong.

This law will do nothing to reduce crime and is just more harassment for law abiding gun owners. It's nothing more than "feel good" legislation that the elected officials can brag about.

When I was in school studying the behavior of sub-atomic particles, we learned that the speed of light is a constant throughout the universe. Except in New Jersey. Too many toll booths.

Gaviota

Ahhhhh, Gaviota, my friend, I see that you too have driven I-95 and the Garden State. I am so damned glad that I retired in Texas!

Weapon X, It's too late. I observed more New Jersey license plates headed North on I-90 towards Albany this week than NY plates. What's the difference between NY and NJ? Just one letter right?

Oh, the infamous Garden State Parkway. Canovack, that has to be the most appropriate name for a road in history. Seems like most of the trip is spent parked on the toll plazas.

Jeff, it might be that compared to New Jersey, the denizens there think that New York is a paradise of freedom and tranquility. And they'd be right!

Gaviota

I didn't even know you could legally own a hand gun in NJ. I grew up there thinking that rifles and shotguns were okay but no handguns. Wow! was I wrong or what? I guess I was lied to and too naive to check it out. So, based on what I thought as a kid, this 1 handgun a month doesn't sound too bad. Maybe I'll leave Colorado and move back to New Jersey. NAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Naa is correct Lorenzo. I lived in Durango, Colorado for 1.5 years and enjoyed the freedom of open carry. I didn't like the arid climate or the lack of high paying jobs. I did appreciate beautiful women of all ages (great physical shape) riding their cruiser bikes down Main Street while wearing their Summer dresses and bonnets. What a beautiful, peaceful sight to behold.

NJ is a fascist oligarchy run by crime families.I lived in CT for 29 years and NJ was famous in CT for being the home of all the Brooklyn Dim Wits in the WW 2 films, when they came home from the war, they all moved to "Joisy"....I wonder what kind of hallucenigenic is in the water there??

Dale in Alabama

It is almost impossible, in NJ, to use a gun legally in SD anyway.
