SSSF Seeks Executive Director

(GunReports.com) -- The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) is seeking a qualified individual to fill the full-time position of executive director.

Position Description
The Executive Director of the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) reports directly to the Board of Trustee (BOT) Executive Committee (Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Secretary/Treasurer) and indirectly to the Board of Trustees.
The Executive Director is responsible for the organization's consistent achievement of its mission and all financial objectives. This position serves as the "face" to the industry on a daily basis for the SSSF. Given the focus on youth development, the Executive Director must ensure by personal behavior and conduct that the highest ethical standards are upheld.
Program Development & Administration
The Executive Director will:
- Working with the BOT, assure that the organization has a well-defined long-range STRATEGY to achieve its mission & growth goals, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress.
- Provide leadership in developing and implementing programs, organizational and financial plans with the BOT and staff; carry out plans and policies as authorized by the Trustees.
- Seek out and develop relationships with key sponsors within the Industry, as well as outside the Industry whenever possible, to secure sustained funding and endorsement for operational program execution, as well as enabling achievement of future growth objectives.
- Promote active and broad participation by volunteers in all areas of the organization's work.
- Manage the necessary administrative staff to maintain all official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
- Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field.
Communications
The Executive Director will be responsible to:
- Develop and be responsible for timely implementation & maintenance of a state-of-the-art web site, and integrated data bases for financial, membership and sponsorship records, as well as a leading-edge plan to use social media to reach our target audiences.
- Ensure the BOT are kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important factors influencing the Foundation.
- Publicize the activities of the organization - internally to staff, to our membership & the volunteer field organizations, as well as externally to the press and industry partners.
- Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with industry leaders, industry groups and organizations.
- Represent the programs and point of view of the Foundation to agencies, organizations, and the general public.
Personnel & HR
The Executive Director will:
- Be responsible for the recruitment, employment, and release of all personnel, both paid staff and volunteers.
- For all paid staff members, develop job descriptions and hold regular performance evaluations; ensure that sound Human Resource practices are in place.
- See that an effective management team, with appropriate provision for succession, is in place.
- Encourage staff and volunteer development and education, and assist program staff in relating their specialized work to the total program of the organization.
- Maintain a climate which attracts, retains, and motivates a diverse staff of top quality individuals.
Budget & Finance:
The Executive Director will:
- Be responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices.
- Work with the staff, Finance Committee, Audit Committee and the BOT, to prepare an annual budget, and monitor same on an ongoing basis to ensure that the organization operates within approved budget parameters.
Other
Conduct the official correspondence of the organization, and execute legal documents on behalf of the organization as authorized by the BOT.
SSSF Executive Director Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success & job experience in a similar leadership role. College degree in a related field would be a plus.
- Within a team framework, experience in successfully managing a staff, demonstrating the ability to accomplish goals with a geographically-dispersed group.
- Strong communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong IT skills ensuring effective communications using today's technologies of e-mail & social media, as well as managing all IT functions with state-of-the-art implementations.
- Financial experience in managing to an approved budget and ability to provide timely financial statements to the BOT.
- Experience in membership development with another non-profit organization would be helpful.
- Experience in managing large shooting tournaments would be helpful.
- Ability to successfully complete a personal background check.
The SSSF is responsible for all aspects of the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) across the United States, including participant registration, coaches, state coordinators, state and national championships, promotion, communications, websites, public relations and growth strategies. The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation exists to raise funding and other resources for Youth Development Programs in the shooting sports industry.
SCTP is a youth development program where adult coaches and volunteers model sportsmanship, responsibility, honesty, ethics, integrity, and team work while using shooting sports programs to teach these and other positive life skills to SCTP athletes.
