(GunReports.com) Safariland's new Model 6378USN ALS Low Signature Holster features a Cordura-nylon covering designed to provide a low signature to infrared lighting. It also incorporates the Automatic Locking System (ALS) internal retention design.
The 6378USN uses SafariLaminate as its foundation, giving the holster its shape and strength, together with the abrasion-resistant capabilities of Cordura nylon for the outer finish. Safariland is the first to offer a laminate holster covered with Cordura, said James Dawson, Duty Gear Category Director for Safariland.
The Automatic Locking System offers weapon security in an open-top holster. Once the weapon is holstered, it automatically locks into place. When the ALS is de-activated by the thumb, a simple straight-up draw is used. If desired, this holster can be further secured with the addition of an optional ALS Guard, which provides for a manual lock on the retention mechanism.
The new holster incorporates the Safariland three-hole pattern for mounting the paddle and belt slide, but also allows the user to mount the holster in various configurations with the use of the optional Quick Locking System (QLS), which provide for a rapid transition between mounting points. SafariSuede synthetic suede lining protects the guns finish.
This model is currently offered for the following gun models: Sig Sauer P226 and Beretta 92F/M9. Coming in the first quarter of 2012 will be the Glock 17 and 19. Cordura nylon finishes offered are MultiCam®, Ranger Green, Coyote, and Khaki. MRSP is $110.
