They may be familiar to some, but not every gunsmith knows the ins and outs of drill bits. Here are the basics.

Repairing the L.C. Smith Hammerless Double

The graceful, light, and distinctive L.C. Smith Hammerless Double sidelock is a favorite of American shotgunners. Here’s how to fix its most common problems. SHOT Show Video: Two Big-Hole Wheelguns from Kahr Arms

In June 2010, Kahr Arms purchased Minnesota-based firearms manufacturer, Magnum Research, Inc., maker of the Desert Eagle Pistol and BFR Revolvers in .44 Magnum, .45 LC/.410 or .45/70. Kahr Arms offers a selection of other niche-type firearms, such as the “Tommy Gun” and Auto-Ordnance line of M1 .30 caliber carbines. In this video, Gun Tests Contributing Editor Roger Eckstine shows off two of the company’s big-hole BFR wheelguns.

SHOT Show Video: Easy Disassembly for the Modular Beretta Nano

Beretta USA introduced the BU-9 Nano as its entry into the pocket 9mm pistol category last September. Initial shipments of the American-made pistol left the Accokeek, Maryland factory beginning in November 2011, with a suggested retail price of $475. In this video, Gun Tests’ Contributing Editor Roger Eckstine gets a detailed explanation of how easy the Nano is to break down for maintenance. The Nano's modularity provides for simple disassembly and easy cleaning. Safely disassemble the pistol by first engaging the striker deactivator, a patent pending safety mechanism that eliminates the need to pull the trigger prior to disassembly.

Gun Fans Cheer Starbucks, Part II

March 1, 2010

Printer Friendly | Email |

(GunReports.com)--FoxNews.com reports, "Dale Welch recently walked into a Starbucks in Virginia, handgun strapped to his waist, and ordered a banana Frappuccino with a cinnamon bun. He says the firearm drew a double-take from at least one customer, but not a peep from the baristas.

"Welch's foray into the coffeehouse was part of an effort by some gun owners to exercise and advertise their rights in states that allow people to openly carry firearms.

"Even in some 'open carry' states, businesses are allowed to ban guns in their stores. And some have, creating political confrontations with gun owners. But Starbucks, the largest chain targeted, has refused to take the bait, saying in a statement this month that it follows state and local laws and has its own safety measures in its stores.

"Starbucks is a special target because it's from the hippie West Coast, and a lot of dedicated consumers who pay $4 for coffee have expectations that Starbucks would ban guns. And here they aren't," said John Bruce, a political science professor at the University of Mississippi who is an expert in gun policy.

The "barista" likely thought the guy was in law enforcement.

Who else would be so bold as to walk around (GASP!) "armed?"

I am really glad to see that Starbucks doesn't want to get in the middle of this. On the other hand, I'm a little nervous about people who want to strap on a gun just because they can. Discretion is the better part of valor, or so we are told, and as much as I like guns, they are in fact intimidating to many people.

While there are ever-present threats lurking to undermine the 2nd Amendment (as well as the rest of the Constitution), pro-gun sentiment is the highest I have seen in my lifetime. The average American has begun to see through the anti-gun hype and realize it is a waste of time and money.

We pro-gun and pro-Constitution types like to remind everybody that is was the 3 percenters that won our Revolution. Let's not provide an impetus for that to be turned against us, and give the other 3 percent (that are terrified of guns in any form) an emotional boost and anti-gun surge. We know our legislators love to grease the squeaky wheel. If we all grab our Marlins, Blackhawks, and cowboy belts, you can bet that a lot of wheels are going to start squeaking, and loudly.

IMO, if you really need to carry, by all means do so; but, consider the unintended consequences of open carry before you walk out the door.

Two points: (1) The open carry law in California allows for open carry of unloaded handguns. (2) There are criminals who make a habit of sneaking up behind cops and stealing their guns.

It makes no sense to carry an unloaded gun, and it makes no sense to let the enemy know you have a gun.

Gaviota

The best movie to show why the second amendment is so important is the code of silence with chuck norris . the bar when the two criminals when in to rob the bar . they did not care if they killed anybody it was the money they wanted in the movie it was a cop bar bad choice!!!!! in real life with no right to carry it would be a death sentence for all but the criminals . if the perps had checked the bar out and saw guns on every hip and a double barrel behind the bar do you believe they would have tried that bar!!! or gone to a gun free zone to rob and kill!?????

Gav - It makes no sense to carry an unloaded gun, and it makes no sense to let the enemy know you have a gun.

Agreed 100%

Jon Jo - interesting point, though I'd rather see the bad guys go Darwinian.

I thought about going to Starbucks where anti-gunners were publicizing their concerns. I'd mingle in with the anti-gunners and wave a "Guns Kill" sign and then after I tired, turn and pass my sign to someone else, open my shirt, expose my concealed handgun, watch their jaw drop and then I'd say: Oh, they're only dangerous if you can see them.

I just got this in and it was really interesting to read and I hope you all can check it out.

Keeping to My Oath, Locked Loaded and Keeping My Powder Dry.

Looks like the link expired bear1.

The link was about how the press and hellary and the rest are going to us the UN and the small arms treaty to get our guns and exactly how they are going to us the so called UN TREATY to do it. And no chicken little thing about it. I hope this info helps or at least give it some thought.

bear1 - I don't really think it's Chicken Little to discuss Billary's, Brady's, & Soros' intent with the UN. They've been keeping a lid on it lately, but I can remember when the antigun crowd was boasting that if they couldn't effectively eliminate the private ownership of firearms through our own legislature, they would go via a UN treaty; hence the twisted pistol sculpture in front of the UN building.
