(GunReports.com) -- Stoeger introduced three new shotguns at SHOT Show 2012 in Las Vegas this week:
- Stoegers Double Defense O/U Shotgun: Stoegers new Double Defense Over/Under shotgun is a straightforward, economically priced, rugged and reliable home defense shotgun. Ideal for use in tight quarters and tense situations, the Stoeger Double Defense O/U with its traditional break-action and short, efficient design is easy to load and quick to deploy in an emergency.
- Stoeger Condor 28-Gauge: The Condor 28-Gauge is the newest addition to Stoegers lineup
of Condor Over/Under shotguns. The 28-gauge cartridge, which was introduced back in 1903, is recognized and respected as one of shotgunnings most efficient loads thats effective on upland game and clay targets alike.
Stoeger Condor 28-Gauge - Stoeger Limited Edition P-350 Turkey Gun: The Stoeger P-350 pump action shotgun is now available in a turkey gun configuration featuring Stoegers new and improved SteadyGrip stock. This newly designed stock allows a steadier positive grip for optimum shooting control. This shotgun features a 20-inch cantilevered barrel that will easily
accommodate accessory optics and will be available in a Limited Edition only.

I have a number of shotguns tactically placed in my home to provide a depth of defense. While I prefer pump and semiauto shotguns for the defense role, the tactical O/U is a novel, interesting, and if properly used, effective tool. It is certainly more easily handled in confined spaces, due to the relative shortness of the action. If one were to install a carrier of extra shells on the butt stock, it could be considerably more effective.....if the user practiced speed loading drills. Call me biased, but when I can buy a short Mossberg with more rounds than that, or a nice Saiga with a 19 inch barrel and 20 round drum mags, I think a double is a little impractical. Unless, of course it's cheap enough to buy a bunch of them. I'm still waiting for that Russian AA-12. Food for thought - I've read that in many of the "terror" battles we've fought, the enemy have dozens of different weapons prestaged. Rather than reload, they just grab another. That's why I have more than one myself. Roger that, Cecil..... Lots of weapons in lots of places, not to mention the principal and back-up pieces that are always on my person. Just got my AK with the telescoping stock. Sweet. Raining here.
