(GunReports.com) -- Legislation (HB940, SB323) overturning Virginia's one-gun-a-month law is now on its way to the governor's desk after passing the Virginia Senate this week (21-19).
Gov. Bob McDonnell has said he will sign the repeal into law.
"We are pleased that the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates have recognized the importance of repealing one gun a month, legislation that rationed the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Virginians," said NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel Lawrence G. Keane. "We look forward to Gov. McDonnell's signature on this very important bill."
In fact, gun owners are now really upset at Virginia's One Gun a Month Handgun Law when it was signed by Douglas Wilder still in 1993. Philpip Van Cleve has worked a lot for many years defending the Constitutional Second Amendment Rights and Liberty for Virginians and all Americans. Now, the law-abiding Virginians rights will be fully protected. I am personally satisfied with the Fosbery Automatic Revolver, and hope our authorities will protect our rights better in future. George from http://ameriloansearch.com/ Here is one Virginian who does not need to buy more than one gun a month! I buy a gun maybe every two years if that. Did one gun a month stop "straw" purchases? Who knows? But I didn't find it cumbersome... The law infringes on our rights to keep and bare arms. ALL gun control laws do. It is likely true that few of us actually do purchase more than one gun per month. That said, however, there have been occasions when I did purchase multiple pieces, whether from the same dealer or from multiple dealers. What's the big problem with multiple purchases? A law that restricts the number of purchases of firearms is an unconstitutional law, and it cannot be allowed to stand. James - you may not personally need it and not find it "cumbersome," but does that mean the rest of the law abiding public should forgo their rights? Normally I would not find that law to be a problem for me either - IF I lived in VA again. BUT, lately my cash flow has been such that I have to buy them when I can afford them, and that may mean more than one a week at times, and at others none at all for months. So for me, I'd have to complain about the law, even though most of the time it wouldn't affect me. Interesting..... What I am reading here is that to some folks a gun rationing law is a blatant violation of Second Amendment rights that cannot be allowed to stand. On the other hand, we see that some think it is not a big deal, because they don't envision purchasing more than one gun a month. What's wrong out there? We are seeing the same old song being played over again..... "If it doesn't affect me, I don't care.....", or "It's reasonable, so what. I can live with it". C'mon people.....ANY LAW THAT CURTAILS YOUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL! There is no such thing as a reasonable anti-Second Amendment law! I am reminded here of the story..... "When they came for the Gypsies, I didn't care, because I'm not a Gypsy. When they came for the Jews, I didn't care, because I'm not a Jew.....When they came for me, nobody was left to care.....". Wake, the hell, up. The anti-gun forces will chip away at your rights slowly but surely, if you don't take a stand against them. Apparently I didn't make myself clear. I do fail sometimes to do that. I don't approve of this law at all, and I didn't like it when I lived in VA and it was passed. I merely meant to state that it had not personally caused me any pain - but hell, I've not lived there in 12 years so how could it have? I can buy all the lethal hardware I want in VA, except guns. Hammers, axes, baseball bats, kitchen knives, golf putters and drivers - you name it. Why should someone be limited in the number of guns they can buy during business hours, when they can buy any of these other things at the Super Wal*mart at 2 a.m. when they're drunk and angry? It doesn't make sense. It is a stupid law, and unconstitutional as well. Apparently I didn't make myself clear. I do fail sometimes to do that. It is a stupid law, and unconstitutional as well. just go to the state next door & buy what you want..are these ppl that stupid ,does this stop a criminal from anything our politicians are the stupidest ppl on this planet..... Canovack - you've hit the fatal flaw of the pro-gun side: too many "Fudds" will not object to, and may even support, laws that do not infringe on their personal exercise of the 2nd Amendment! The governor already indicated that he will sign the new bill repealing the one gun per month law. Yes Virginia, victory is sweet. But the struggle continues in Virginia and other states. We need to start cleaning up these so-called "gun free zones" like college and university campuses and military installations. The law is either constitutional or not. Even if the law is IS constitutional, we have the power as voters to have it repealed. There has always been strength in numbers and the 2nd Amendment group has a rather large lobby effort and millions of supporters.Just get the stupid "one gun per month " law OFF the books.
