Winchester Unleashes Hog Round

(GunReports.com) -- Winchester Ammunition's new Razorback XT is a specialized cartridge designed for wild hog hunting.
The Razorback XT lead-free bullet has a beveled profile and is made of solid gilding metal with a hollow point for delayed expansion on extremely tough wild hogs. Flash suppressed powders make Razorback XT suitable for use in low light or after dark with night vision technology.
Razorback XT is our response to the rising popularity of hog hunting and the necessity to control wild hogs where they are a nuisance, said Brett Flaugher, Winchester Ammunition vice president of marketing and sales. Hunters need a cartridge that can drive through thick hide and bone for quick, ethical harvest shots on the toughest wild boars.
Initially, Razorback XT will be produced in .223 Rem and .308 Win. and will function in bolt-action rifles as well as modern sporting rifles like the AR-10 and AR-15.
I hope they consider bringing it out in 6.8 SPC. I wonder if Winchester is planning to bring out a hog round for revolvers? (i.e. .41 or .44 Mag) I wish we had a hog problem in New England. I like ta eat me some pork! How about a Razorback XT in 450 Bushmaster. Oh, yeah. If you shoot the 450 Bushmaster FTX from Hornady, you already have a hog round. Still, it would be nice to have some competition for Hornady. People hunt hogs with all manner of weapons, including pistols, muzzle loaders, bows, and even spears. With a high velocity round like .223 or .308 Win, how important is the bullet? Wouldn't any FMJ bullet be adequate? Perhaps this round might be useful for miscreants who are high on drugs who insist on breaking into peoples homes. David - you DO have a hog problem in New England, and those elected hogs create plenty of pork! ;) Hogs are nasty and should be hunted. Just got me a Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle in 308 Good for you, Ralph! I have had my Ruger GSR for several months, and I haven't seen any in the gun shops or at gun shows since I purchased mine. I'm glad to hear that they are making distribution.
