I grew up in NJ and moved to VT then to NH which is where I live now. That state has the worst laws I have ever seen and not just gun laws. But the gun laws are the biggest crock. I will never go back and I don't spend a dime in that state except for gas when I'm passing through.

From September '89 to June '90 I lived in NJ, working as a gunsmith for Navy Arms. What I found out was some of the guns I brought into the state were illegal. Well, I did'nt shoot them while I was there, and the only gun that could pass inspection was my Beretta 92F (not FS) by loading only 10 rounds of ammo at one time using ball ammo. (This was pre-Bill Clinton) My relationship with Val Forrgett soured, and I left the state, asking that an WW II Englis Browning HP be kept, and sent to me (through an FFL) when I got resettled. I still have it today and got it without all the NJ BS.

I don't know why folks like Ann Coulter wanted Christie as a presidential candidate. He's a liberal. A financially conservative liberal, but still a liberal.

I own an M1 Garand, which fires a .30 caliber round that can go through trees. I can't own an M1 Carbine, which fires a .30 caliber pistol round, (MUCH weaker that the Garand round), becaue the NJ list says so. WTF????

Everything I know about that state sucks. I try to avoid going to NJ at all. I go 100 miles out of my way to avoid the state entirely when I drive south to see my kids. Of course, with the traffic, that 100 extra miles gets me where I'm going two hours faster than the path thru NJ....

in the 70's and 80's we periodically traveled south and passed through nj. We alsways referred to new jersey as the "armpit of the US" ... It seems nothing has changed. we tried to avoid driving on the new jersey turnpike during rainstorms as there were always tanker trucks dumping chemical wastes when it could be obscurred by the rain and darkness..

Armpit? I have a somewhat 'lower' opinion of NJ myself.

I grew up in New Jersey and left the state when I was 45. I moved to Montana which has some of the best gun laws in the country. My wife and I both have concealed carry permits and keep handguns in our vehicles. We don't do this because we're worried about crime, we do it because we can!

I too am not sure why conservatives are all gaa gaa over Christie. He is so anti gun and has made no move to revise the archane firearms laws in NJ. Firearms owners should never ever support Christie for anything. Governor Rhino is all he is.

This article is right on the money. I lived there from 12 to 20; going to college was my way out. NYC was just as bad. So, after school was over I eventually ended up in PA. The only thing that made NJ slightly bearable was the detective I knew as a friend. But still, the system was stifling. As soon as business picked up, I was gone.

Thank you for posting our video. The New Jersey Second Amendment Society is working extremely hard to CHANGE the way Firearms Ownership is treated in our state. We need all the help and support we can get.

Frank Jack Fiamingo President of the NJ2AS

No ryme or reason to NJ gun laws

No, unfortunately there *IS* no rhyme or reason. The mistake was made when it was assumed that the RKBA was too obvious to require inclusion in our State Constitution. Ever since then, activist judges and over-reaching legislators have chipped away at our rights and replaced them with an incomprehensible patchwork of statutes that have brought us to the point we are today. This system MUST be scrapped and we MUST amend our state Constitution to once again reinforce the rights which by our nature as free humans belong to us.

When I drive south to north or vice versa, avoiding New Jersey is a primary consideration.
